Positive Parenting: Discipline Without Fear
Our Positive Parenting Program guides Bangladeshi families toward inductive, research-based discipline that builds trust instead of fear.
Children learn how to treat themselves by watching how we treat them when they make a mess of things.
Fear can produce quick obedience. It rarely produces the kind of inner compass a child will need at 14, or 24. The Positive Parenting Program offers another way: firm, warm, and clear.
What “positive” actually means
It is not permissiveness. Children still need limits. The difference is that limits come with explanation, repair, and respect — not humiliation.
Inductive discipline asks a child to look at the effect of their action: Who was hurt? What can be put right? What will we try next time?
Small shifts at home
- Name the feeling before the rule: “You are angry. Hitting is not allowed.”
- Offer a do-over instead of a long lecture.
- Repair together after a hard moment, including when the adult lost their temper.
Parents are not expected to be perfect. They are invited to be accountable. That is how trust grows in a house.
If you want company in this work, our parenting sessions are built for ordinary Bangladeshi families — not for people who already have it all figured out.
